Catherine (VG)Why do we punish ourselves? I’m not here to debate that. Instead, let me offer up two titles: Catherine and Dark Souls. Both are unique and deceptively simple video games. Both will challenge you beyond the point of frustration. Both come quickly and easily with my heartfelt recommendation…. but then again I don’t know your personality or skills well enough to distinguish between “passing along great games” and “wishing them upon you”. Why would you want to subject yourself to redundant and teeth-grinding difficulty? For the accomplishment and bragging rights, of course. Not to mention the total gaming experience that you will not find anywhere else.

My Reactions to OrvillecopterOrville used to be a cat that was one day hit and killed by a vehicle. His owner, professing that he loved his pet so much, decided to put the body in a freezer for 6 months while working on a remote controlled helicopter framework. He then had a taxidermist apply the skin to the helicopter frame, yielding a wide-eyed cat with all four legs splayed out in a very un-catlike stance. The thing has four propellers, one on each foot, and is remotely controlled by the owner whom claims that he is not desecrating the memory of the cat, but that every feline dreams of flying with the birds just like the Orvillecopter. Needless to say, controversy has erupted over the issue.

Battlestar Galactica 1978 and 2004 (TV)I gave myself about a month to watch both the original 1st season of the highly regarded classic BSG and all four seasons of the slicker, modern-er version off of Netflix. With strong initial impressions of being a Mormonized carbon copy of Star Wars and finally mutating into a humanistic heavy-hitting space drama filled with carbon-copied synthetic humanoids, Battlestar Galactica went through its share of growing pains, homages, and funky story archs. Ultimately it’s a great franchise filled to the brim with worthwhile material that will appeal to current fans of science fiction, but also those who may even be tiring of the same-old formulas inherent to the genre.
